We were told books about war wouldn't sell in this economy. "Readers want to escape from the real world." Yeah... We know. The Writer's Orange Quill has a unique way of story-telling that brings readers to our world while mixing in a bit of the real world. We want to make people feel again. And also, enjoy one hell of a story.
We have several books in the works, stories with Black protagonists that aren't fighting racial injustice or dealing with the typical stereotypes. We are bringing something new and yes, we are expecting haters. We aren't offering typical predictable plots. Which is why we believe our stories will captivate, anger and cause pause because you think you know but you have no idea... 😈
There are just too many good, juicy stories in our arsenal but there are also limitations to publish said juicy stories. We could go on and on about the marketing costs and planning, advertisements, the hiring process, working our 9-5s so that we can become 5-9s and actually enjoy this world for once, our health, our mental health. It takes a toll.
We don't have any small million-dollar loans, this is all blood, sweat and tears over here. The only thing we are asking for is patience. Every view on our page encourages us. It's the interactions with our potential readers that puts the fire underneath to keep writing. That and wanting to accomplish something before we take our last breaths! Knowing that we will impact the lives of people far and wide is our fuel. It's our dream... But while we runs on dreams this world runs on the green and yes, money walks. So when I'm studying up on my grammer and punctiuanon, I hold you dear to my heart and so do my comrades.
